Republicanism

So I finally figured out, today, why supporters of McCain piss me off so much, and it’s the same reason that many Obama supporters piss the other side off: Some people vote based on who they like, rather than what they think that person will do for the country.

If you’re a McCain supporter reading this, then you’re about to get pissed off: McCain can do nothing but hurt this country, following the same failed policies of a Commander in Chief who frittered away international support after 9/11 into a botched pair of wars, the first of which was justified and then underfunded, the second unjustified and severely overfunded. If you think that this “Maverick” is capable of distancing himself from the policies of his Republican party, than you just aren’t paying any attention to what is going on. But let’s face facts: You’re supporting McCain because you’re a Republican, not because you agree with the things he says.

This country has split. Ferociously. Permanently. The divisions between Red and Blue are fringing on the fervor that boiled the people of Constantinople into a blind rage in AD 522. Tens of thousands of people were killed in the chaos that followed the Nika riots there. I wonder how many will be lost when the baby-killing, homosexual, welfare-coddled Democrats take on the war-mongering, blinded-by-Jesus, plutocrat Republicans.

John McCain does not understand economics. He doesn’t know what to do with Russia. He has no plans for getting us out of Iraq. He doesn’t understand why we’re losing in Afghanistan. His first official appointment (VP) was based on trying to capture feminist Clinton supporters with a pro-life Tina Fey look-a-like. He keeps forgetting Czechoslovakia isn’t a country. He wants to rain death down on Iran. He thinks the meagre supplies of oil in the Gulf of Mexico and ANWR (that won’t see market availability for years and years, even if we start drilling now) will actually have an impact on oil prices. He wants to save the middle class by under-taxing the rich. He thinks his wife is a cunt.

He’s the most insulated man in this country, save for our current President. Neither of these men listen to dissent–no, they don’t even hear it. McCain even admits to not knowing how to check email. How could dissent ever reach his ears?

Republicans, if you’re still reading, I don’t want you to be convinced by this to go vote for Obama. I’m imploring you to look into your candidate. The blind loyalty you mock from Obamaniacs is the same blind loyalty you subscribe to for your guy. Hell, your guy said Obama was a celebrity who isn’t ready to lead, and then turned around and picked a celebrity who isn’t ready to lead for his VP.

In the interest of full disclosure, I don’t want McCain to win. I think he’s a war hero who should be afforded the greatest respect our country has to offer: to be kept out of politics. If he wins this election, he will drive the US into 4 or 8 more years of international hatred. If he does not win, it won’t be because he didn’t try (and in so doing, tag his name with what is likely to be a few months of the most heated mudslinging ever witnessed by this country).

Either way, this decorated veteran will die reviled by at least half of the country he fought so hard to serve.
